Santa's Little Helper Girl

 

This tutorial was written in PSP8. You can use PSP7.

Tools you need:

Paint Shop Pro 8 or 7

Santa's Helper Girl Zip Here

Unzip to a folder of choice.

 

You can do this with a black outline or without the outline.

If you don't want the outline then just flood fill with color of choice.

If you want the outline, the procedure is the same for every step.

Flood fill with black, Selections/Modify/Contract with 1,

flood fill with your color and deselect.

 

Open the Santa Helper Girl PSP-image file.

Shift D to duplicate it and close the original. Remember to save often.

 

1.

      Click on layer leg1. Go to Selections/Load/Save Selection and Load/Save Selections from Alpha Channel. Select leg1 and hit ok.

        Flood fill with black then Selections/Modify/Contract with 1 and flood fill with your color. I used #C00000. Leave selected and add a New Layer

        Grab your Paintbrush size 20, hardness 25 Step 1 Density 100 and Opacity 100 and paint some lines on the sock. I used #0000C0.  Go to Adjust/Blur/Gaussian Blur and hit number 3,00  Deselect.

      Right click on the layer with the lines and Merge Down. (PSP8)

 

3. 

     Click on layer leg2. Go to Selections/Load/Save Selection and Load/Save Selections from Alpha Channel  Select leg2 and hit ok.

        Repeat the steps as with leg1. The procedure Loading from Alpha Channel is always the same , so from now on I only say  Load from Alpha Channel.

      Click on layer back dress. Load from Alpha Channel back dress. Flood fill with black, Selections/Modify/Contract with 1 and flood fill with your color. I used #EE5854. Go to Adjust/ Brightness and Contrast and hit 20 for Brightness

and 0 for Contrast. Deselect.

 

5.

     Click on layer neck. Load from Alpha Channel neck. Flood fill with black, Selections/Modify  Contract with 1. Flood fill with  #FECBAE and deselect.

 

6.

      Click on layer hand. Load from Alpha Channel hand. Flood fill with black. Selections/Modify/ Contract with 1 and flood fill with your color.

I used #FECBAE. Deselect.

 

7. 

     Click on layer blouse. Load from Alpha Channel blouse. Flood fill with black, Selections/Modify/Contract with 1 and flood fill with your color.

I used #FFFFFF. Deselect.

 

8.

      Click on layer dress. Load from Alpha Channel dress and flood fill with black, Selections/Modify/Contract with1 and flood fill with your color.

I used #EE5854. Deselect.

 

9.

      Click on layer arm. Load from Alpha Channel arm. Flood fill with black, Selections/Modify/Contract with 1. Flood fill with your color.

I used #FFFFFF. Deselect.

 

10. 

    Click on layer hand1. Load from Alpha Channel hand1. Flood fill with black. Selections/Modify/Contract with 1 and flood fill with your color.

I used # FECBAE. Deselect.

 

11.

     Click on layer arm1. Load from Alpha Channel arm1. Flood fill with black, Selections/Modify/Contract with 1 and flood fill with your color.

I used #FFFFFF. Deselect

 

12. 

    Click on layer back hair. Load from Alpha Channel back hair and flood fill

with black or as I did ( I used # C67204) Selections/Modify/Contract

with 1 and flood fill with your color.

I used #FDDE89. Deselect.

 

13.

     Click on layer head. Feel free to do your own head and face, or you can use mine. If you use mine open the head (from the zip provided) and copy.

Load from Alpha Channel head. Keep selected and paste the head into selection.

     Click on layer front hair. Load from Alpha Channel front hair. Flood fill with black. ( I used #C67204) Selections/Modify/Contract with 1 and flood

fill with your color. I used #FDDE89.

 

15.

     You are done. Feel free to decorate her any way you like. Add some shading, buttons or a bow in her hair.
