Wooden Flower Decoration

This was done in PSP 8 but can be done in any version.

Download green and red wood patterns HERE

        Open a New Image 500 x 500 Vector background

Don't run away. We are using Vectors but No Node Editing.

Open the green wood pattern you downloaded. Make two copies.

Use Adjust Brightness and Contract to make the first copy lighter green

and the second copy darker green. The Light settings about Brightness 50, Contrast 0,

and the Dark -50, 0. We will use these for the shading.

Minimize the two copies for now.

Do the same for the red wood pattern and minimize.

Change your background to the green wood pattern you downloaded

Size 100, Angle 0. Foreground color null.

        1.   Leaves

        Add a New Vector Layer

Using Preset Shapes Tool Ellipse Anti-alias and Vector checked make

four large ellipses. Use your Object Selections Tool to move and rotate them.

Look at my picture above for placement. When done Convert to Raster.

Lock the Transparency clicking on the lock on the layer palette.

        Airbrush Size 80 Hardness 0 Step 25 Density 26 and Opacity 53

Use the light and dark green wood tiles to shade the leaves and make the angle

the same as the leaves. I smudged the dark shade a bit but not the light shade.

Click the lock to open the layer again.

Change your background color to the red wood pattern, Size 100, Angle 0

        2.   Petals

         Add a New Vector Layer

Using Preset Shapes Tool Ellipse Anti-alias and Vector checked make

four large ellipses. Use your Object Selections Tool to move and rotate them.

Place them between the leaves. When done Convert to Raster.

Lock the Transparency clicking on the lock at the layer palette.

Use the light and dark red wood tiles to shade as you did for the leaves.

Remember to change the angle and don't forget to click the lock to open the layer when done.

        3.   Center

         Add a New Vector Layer

Using Preset Shapes Tool Ellipse Anti-alias and Vector checked make

five hearts to form the center. Do each heart on a New Layer.

When you are happy with the placement of your hearts, Convert to Raster.

        4.   Shadow

Go back to your Leaves layer and use the Darken/Lighten Tool to darken under the petals.

Go back to your Petals layer and use the Darken/Lighten Tool to darken under the hearts.

Go back to each heart layer and darken under the heart the same way

as you did with the leaves and petals.

        5.   Decoration

        Add a New Vector Layer

Place it under the leaves layer. Decorate as you like

        That's it. You're done.
